GET TOOLS, COACHING, & FUNDING TO RUN YOUR OWN CAMPAIGN
SPARK (Supporting Passionate Advocacy with Resources and Knowledge) unlocks your power to make real change.
Make a real impact on your campus, in your community, at your workspace, or in the Capitol.
What does leading a SPARK campaign mean?
- ✹ 3-month journey of learning, planning, and applying pressure to decisionmakers (looking for support for a rapid response? Read below!)
- ✹ Coaching + Training with an expert Campaign Adviser based on your city and issue
- ✹ Regular 1:1 virtual check-ins to help you run your campaign
- ✹ Financial stipends to cover the cost of supplies, materials, travel, or anything else needed for your campaign
- ✹ Digital tools like mass-texting, phone-banking systems, event registration and more
How do I apply?
- Look out for an email from a member of our SPARK team
- Schedule a quick intake interview where we'll walk through some resources that might work for your leadership
- We review and accept new SPARK applications on a monthly, rolling basis determined by available capacity. Following your Intake Interview, we will inform you of the status of your application within a week
- Your campaign will launch the first week of the following month. You will be assigned a Campaign Adviser who will work with you and your team to craft a 3-month plan that includes measurable goals, movable targets, and a sound strategy
What's it like running a SPARK campaign?
Phase | What You’ll Do |
---|---|
Train + Base-Build | Prepare leaders through guided learning opportunities. Build a core team to support the campaign. |
Launch + Gain Support | Build support for demands. Leaders recruit other young people and develop their leadership. |
Ramp Up the Pressure | Try to meet with your main target(s). If they agree, celebrate! If not, ramp up the pressure with escalated tactics. |
Celebrate or Escalate | Assess your progress. If your target has not met your demands, continue next semester/school year to build broader support. |
While each SPARK campaign is different, each follows a similar flow. Over the course of 3 months, we'll help you come up with a plan and take action to assert your demands. We’ll mobilize our neighbors to learn more about the issue, share their stories or voice their concerns.
After successfully completing a phase of your campaign, you can reapply to continue building power with YAF.

What if I need to take action NOW?
The Rapid Response Campaign within the SPARK Program is designed to fund needs that require immediate support. This short-term opportunity provides funding for direct services, mutual aid, travel, rapid mobilizations, and other self-contained actions.
Rapid Response is only available to individuals or groups with pressing needs, based on fund availability. While SPARK campaigns are designed for longer-term organizing efforts to shift systems, Rapid Response exists to meet immediate needs that can't wait—filling critical gaps as they arise in communities across Florida.
